Why Blog?

Is stressing over the lack of a blog post worth it? Shouldn’t I be living more and blog hopping less?

I blog to connect. I blog to remember. I blog to learn. I blog for fun!

I’ve been struggling with the whole, “why do you blog?” question lately and I think I’m starting to come to agreement with myself over why I blog. I don’t like stressing over my blogging because I don’t think that’s why I decided to do this. I’m tired of staying up late at night trying to link up with another site FIRST or cramming in a few half typed blog posts. I also don’t like that I get all bent out of shape if my blog post doesn’t have a picture with it! Hehe…

I am blogging for me. A record of all the goofy, crazy, fun and sentimental things that happen in my life going down into a record of my blog. I do struggle with the fact that I am not talking directly about my children, their ages, names, etc. but I seem to find ways around this and still enjoy recording the stories. I want the story of what is happening in life around me to go down in writing and be remembered. That is all really. I enjoy that. I feel a HUGE weight coming off my shoulders with this too. I sincerely hope that I REMEMBER this post later though when the whole… “oh, no! I don’t have a blog post for tomorrow!” comes back up again.

For now… I’m good! Oh and look… no picture! (GASP)

Be sure you have fun blogging and that you aren’t letting it take over your life for the wrong reasons.

I think this is really important.

Honestly, I blog as a hobby. I share what I want to share. I find that when I put a lot of pressure on myself to get out 5 or 6 posts a week, with pictures and detailed instructions, etc it just stops being fun. And, hobbies should be fun.

I took a week off last week. I just didn't have anything at all to say. I didn't feel creative. My baby wasn't sleeping well again and I was pooped. So, I didn't blog. In the back of my mind I realize I'm losing whatever small amounts of traffic I've managed to gain from the hours of networking I've done. It's hard.

Honestly, though, blogging isn't the hard part for me. It's getting people to READ that's so time consuming and difficult.

Great post! I often have to remind myself of the reasons why I blog. I blog, I must remind myself amidst stressing about not posting, not having the time to spend hours on Twitter, or not responding to comments fast enough, to record my life's journey. That's it. That's all that matters.
