Setting a Christmas Budget? Really?!

Friday, October 29, 2010

So, here we go again with some more fun questions to be answered! Even at my lowest of lows in writer’s block I can pull this blog post off. :) How about you? I love these questions…

Questions for Friday, October 29th: (Special thanks to Bethany, Sandy, Pam, Jesslyn, and Jill for their question suggestions! If YOU would like to be linked in a future Five Question Friday, c'mon over to my community and offer up your best question suggestions!)

1. If you could be a fly on any wall, which would you choose?
Hmm… I’m not generally an overly nosey person. I guess sometimes it’d be fun to check things out, but I don’t usually feel comfortable prying too much. Reading people’s blog’s, twitter and facebook accounts is about as “fly on the wall” that I get! I do listen in on my kids play sometimes and that’s just plain cute. :)

BTW: My blog has a new Facebook account! I am just figuring out how to use it really, so if you have any tips… let me know!

2. Do you budget your Christmas shopping or just get it done without budgeting?
Did you ask if I budget for Christmas?! Oh my… I TRY to. I even start my holiday shopping early to try and ease the spending but I always get hit with inspiration at the end of the year and end up spending more than I wanted to.

We do have a Christmas account setup and a set amount of money from each of my Hubbie’s paycheck is transferred into that account. That’s a nice little bonus when it comes around… but I will admit that a lot of time it has the perfect timing of being sucked up by a bill too. So it never makes it to be used for Christmas gifts like it should. Maybe this year…

I am going to work harder at limiting the amount of gifts we give the kiddos. They really have so much STUFF and I want them to learn more value. What do you do to teach your kids more value around Christmas time? My kids are spoiled I suppose.

3. What is the craziest fad diet you have ever done?
Okay, didn’t we just talk Christmas and than there’s mention of DIETING? Hmm… Something isn’t right here. Dieting around the holidays just does not work for me. And actually, I’ve never really truly “dieted” either. I suppose the weirdest fad one I’ve heard of is the one's that talk about binge eating BEFORE the diet. I think that’s just weird and very counter productive.

4. Is there a TV show that you have seen every episode/season of?
No, there isn’t. It never fails that I get all excited about a show and then I forget the night it is on and miss it. We do not have TiVo, DVR or any of those fancy gizmo’s so I end up just missing them. I try and remember to watch the one I missed on the computer later, but I forget to do that too. It's not something that bothers me too much either. Unless I’m REALLY into the show I am even known to get up in the middle of it to do something else. Drives my Dad and Hubbie batty. Both my Mom and I can pull this stunt on them.

5. What one song always pulls at your heart?
I Cross My Heart” by George Strait
Blame my Hubbie… <3

Growing up, we used Christmas time as a time to clean out our old toys that we no longer used and we gave them to less fortunate children.

We also got to pick out one toy that we donated to a donation program.
